From Law to Crab and Salmon processing: my journey to sustainability
WGI is a testament to my ambitions, determination, and resilience in the face of challenges. From conducting market analysis and validating marketing (goods) hypotheses in Ukraine to flying to China and concluding exclusive contracts, I have demonstrated commendable dedication and resourcefulness. However, despite my meticulous planning, extensive preparation, and persistent efforts, my path to success in B2B was fraught with difficulties that ultimately prevented me from starting the business. Why? A lack of resources. A project with a margin of 51% proved insufficiently attractive to potential investors. Banks in Ukraine refused to grant me a loan under a consignment-distribution contract.
I participated in the international B2B exhibition of children’s goods BabyExpo in Kyiv (the main event in the children’s goods industry in Ukraine, approved by The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry), where I presented product samples to potential clients. In four days, I gathered pre-orders for 1.5 containers… Not bad, right? However, only a few people made advance payments. Most potential clients were unwilling to tie up funds while awaiting goods from China and were only willing to make purchases from a warehouse in Ukraine. I was forced to seek a partner and made a mistake in their selection. The personal funds invested were insufficient to meet the deliverys terms.
After this failure, I took an unconventional step and immersed myself in the world of commercial fishing, joining the ranks of OBI SeaFoods, LLC in Alaska. This decision was prompted not only by financial necessity but also by personal circumstances: I learned that I would soon become a father to a wonderful Boy.
My path has been far from easy, but it has been marked by invaluable lessons and profound discoveries. Adversities have taught me resilience, pushed me to adapt and grow in the face of challenges. Becoming a father has further strengthened my commitment to building a stable and secure future not only for myself but also for my growing son. Every obstacle I encountered served as a springboard, propelling me forward with renewed determination.
Although my path has been difficult, it is rich in opportunities for growth and self-discovery. I share my story not only as a testament to resilience but also as inspiration for those currently facing similar challenges. Through perseverance, courage, and a willingness to learn from failures, one can become stronger and more resilient than ever before.
I assure you of that!
